Book Replacements
The State budget crisis and the limitations it imposes have placed the library in a tenuous position. When a book is lost, its value to the collection will be reassessed. Money received from the charges imposed by the library may be used to purchase different, more timely, or relevant material. In this way, the library retains the option of purchasing exactly what is needed and wanted and it removes all the ambiguity from the replacement process.
What should you do if you lose library materials?
Please report any lost material to the staff at the Circulation/Reserve Desk.
You will be advised on the billing process and how to proceed. Normally, items are billed when they reach 30 days overdue. This allows time to thoroughly search for the material.
We will also search the library to make sure it wasn't returned and missed the check in procedure.
If you are positive the item wil not be located, circulation staff can accept payment so your record can be cleared.
If payment is not made in the library in the appropriate time frame (see above); all replacement charges will be forwarded to appropriate campus offices for further collections:
-
Students Student Accounts Office
-
Faculty/Staff Payroll Office
-
Non University borrowers Business Office for NC Internal Revenue Service
What should you do if you damage library materials?
Most items are reported damaged at check in; but you may report damage at any time you are in possession of the item. Circulation staff inspect and assess damages when items are returned; they will notify you of the assessed charge; and also keep the item on the hold shelf for 3 weeks for your inspection in case of any questions about the cause or extent of the damage.
What should you do if you return late library materials?
No late fees are charged for any General Collection items, including videos, DVDs, Browsing, CIMC material, Periodicals, Documents, etc.
You will be charged for overdue recalled items at the rate of $1 per day up to a maximum of $50.
You will be charged for overdue reserve fines at the rate of $.50 per hour
or any part of an hour, up to a maximum of $100.
You will be charged for overdue laptops at the rate of $1 per hour
or any part of an hour, plus a $10 overnight charge for each day past the due date.
You will be charged for overdue InterLibrary Loans (ILL) at the rate of $1 per day.
No maximum.
