Established as a cooperation venture between the J. Murrey Atkins Library at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, the UNC Charlotte Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education, and the NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA, the Center serves as a preview and distribution center for NASA produced educational materials. It provides elementary, secondary, and university educators teaching in North Carolina easy access to instructional materials suitable for use in their classrooms. These inquiry based materials can provide a springboard for classroom discussions in life science, physical science, astronomy, earth science, environmental, mathematics, engineering, technology and career education. Materials are evaluated and assigned a grade level by a task force composed of educators representing the kindergarten through post-secondary levels.

Location and Hours
The North Carolina NASA ERC is located in the J. Murrey Atkins Library on the University of North Carolina at Charlotte campus.
During fall and spring semesters, the Center materials are available:

Services
Teacher Workshops
Arrangements can be made with the Center personnel to conduct inservice teacher workshops. Periodically, week long summer teacher institutes are offered by NASA Langley at the Center. Call 704-687-2559 for further details or check the Workshop Schedule.
Preview Materials
Educators may come to the Center to preview its collection of print and nonprint aerospace and space sciences materials.
Distribute Materials
The Center has a limited supply of NASA print material which can be distributed free of charge. Requests for these materials should be submitted on School Letterhead and should include a theme or subject area. Staff will also assist educators in locating quality NASA resources via the Web.
