Louis Humbert Asbury Papers
Papers of one of Charlotte's earliest architects. Includes drawings, renderings, job files, correspondence, photographs, and reference material. Projects include residences, institutions, churches, and businesses.

Biberstein, Bowles, Meachem & Reed, Inc. Records
Records of an architectural firm founded by Richard Biberstein in 1905. Contains job files and drawings for textile mills and villages in North Carolina and Virginia, residences, schools, churches, commercial buildings, and drawings of the Mecklenburg Iron Works (1887-1902).

Blythe & Isenhour, Inc. Records
Records of a Charlotte construction firm, which ceased operations in 1989. Includes job books (1922-86), ledgers (1909-42), cash books (1923-47), and a time book (1909-10).

Martin Evans Boyer Papers
Papers of a Charlotte architect best known for homes he designed in the Eastover and Myers Park neighborhoods. Includes architectural drawings, project files, photographs, printed material, correspondence, trade catalogs, and information on the preservation of the Charlotte Mint.

Harold Bursley Papers
Field notebooks kept by an associate of landscape architect Earle Sumner Draper. Contains cost estimates, manpower and material requirements, design principles for cemeteries and golf courses, and general descriptions of projects in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennesee, and West Virginia.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission
Narrative survey and research reports evaluating structures and sites for inclusion on the local register of historic places, including information on present and former owners of the properties. Also contains brochures and other commission publications and clippings about historic sites, the commission, and historic preservation.

Davidson Family Papers
Papers of the Davidson family of Rural Hill Plantation in northern Mecklenburg County and of related families. Includes deeds, plantation accounts, financial records, family bibles, photographs, and architectural drawings by Louis Asbury for a proposed recreation of the 1788 plantation house, which burned in 1886.

Freeman White Associates Collection
Architectural drawings for a city-owned garage designed by Charles Christian Hook, the founder of the firm and Charlotte's first professional architect, and for an addition to the city's Health Department building by his son, Walter Hook.

Wayne C.W. Fu Papers
Proposal by a student in the UNC Charlotte College of Architecture to convert the abandoned First Associate Reform Presbyterian Church in uptown Charlotte into a film school and museum.

Dorothy Graves Papers
Papers of one of the first female landscape architects in North Carolina. Contains specifications, blueprints, photographs of landscaping projects in Washington, D.C. (1933-37), designs she completed while a student at Cornell University (1926), and projects by her husband, S. Porter Graves, an associate of Walter W. Hook.

Earl B. Horner Engineering Drawings
Drawings for highway bridges, most of which were designed by Carolina Steel Bridge and Construction Co. of Burlington, N.C., for projects in North Caroilna, South Carolina, and Virginia.

Hugh Torance House & Store, Inc. Records
Records of an organization established to preserve the Mecklenburg County home of Hugh Torance, built in the 1770s or 1780s. Contains information on the history and restoration of the house, including drawings, board minutes, financial records, correspondence, legal documents, fund raising material, and photographs.

Arthur Carl Lee Photographs
Photographs of various hydro-electric power plants built for Duke Power Company under Lee's direction during the 1920s. Also includes photographs of construction at Duke University.

Mecklenburg Iron Works Records
Blueprints of construction projects for which this longtime Charlotte firm was a subcontractor. Includes drawings for residences, schools, churches, and commercial buildings, primarily in the Charlotte area.

Oasis And Omar Temples, N.M.S., Records
Primarily correspondence of the Widow's Fund, a life insurance program for lodge members. Also includes 14 architectural drawings (1938) by Rogers and Klein for alterations to the Masonic Temple in uptown Charlotte. The temple was partially destroyed by fire in 1937, rebuilt in 1938, and demolished in 1987.

Arthur Gould Odell Collection
Biographical material about a leading Charlotte architect and advertising material relating to Odell Associates, Inc., the firm he founded in 1940. Includes central area and cultural plans for Charlotte and Raleigh, and a film documenting the opening of the original Charlotte Coliseum and Ovens Auditorium complex in 1955.

Park Road Shopping Center Drawings
Architectural drawings for Charlotte's first suburban shopping center by R. Emory Holroyd, Jr., architect, and Eugene R. Martini, landscape architect.

James Norman Pease Collection
Items relating to a leading Charlotte architect and to J. N. Pease Associates, the firm he founded in 1938. Includes drawings of Charlotte's Central High School, a transcript of an interview with Dean W. Colvard, and advertising brochures about the firm.

William H. Peeps Papers
Primarily floor plans and photographs of homes and other buildings designed by an early Charlotte architect, including exterior and interior views of Ivey's uptown store. Also includes biographical material, clippings, and a photocopy of a book describing Peeps's work.

UNC Charlotte University Archives
Official records of the university. Includes architectural drawings and files documenting the design and construction processes for campus buildings. Also includes some topographic maps and site plans.

Van Landingham Family Papers
Papers of the Van Landingham family of Charlotte and the Harwood family of New England and Atlanta. Includes correspondence, records of household expenses and investments, genealogical information, photographs, and blueprints of the family home in Charlotte, designed by Charles Christian Hook and Willard G. Rogers.

Beaumert Whitton Papers
Papers of a long-time Charlotte construction company executive. Contains records of the Southeastern Construction Company, the family firm, including photographs of projects in Cuba (ca. 1917) and in North Carolina and South Carolina (1920s-1960s), and minutes and scrapbooks (ca. 1948) of the Charlotte Planning Board.
