Atkins Library is proud to host the first annual UNC Charlotte Undergraduate Research Awards Conference, a research project competition and showcase, open to ALL undergraduate students. In addition, students can compete for the Atkins Library Undergraduate Research Awards: three awards of $1000 each in the categories of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Physical Sciences. One of UNC Charlotte’s most prolific and celebrated poets will take listeners on a compelling journey on Tuesday, March 26 at UNC Charlotte’s J. Murrey Atkins Library.  

If you’ve visited the Atkins Library recently you may have walked past the display cases in the atrium without realizing their contents. Inside are letters, books, photos and other items which illustrate the progress of African Americans since the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.

J. Murrey Atkins Library at UNC Charlotte is very pleased to host THATCamp Piedmont 2013 on March 22 and 23, 2013, at the University’s Center City Building in Uptown. THATCamp stands for “The Humanities and Technology Camp.”  It's an unconference:  an open, free meeting where humanists and technologists of all skill levels learn and build together in sessions proposed on the spot.

Congratulations to Judy Walker, UNC Charlotte education/psychology librarian, on being selected for the 2013 Distinguished Education and Behavioral Sciences Librarian Award by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). She will be presented the award in June during the 2013 American Library Association Annual Conference in Chicago.
