This year's UNC Charlotte Undergraduate Research Conference showcased over 60 undergraduate students, representing the widest range of disciplines since its inception.  Keynote addresses were given by UNC Charlotte's  Dr.

Atkins Library continues to build its vast digital collections, adding to its catalog 37 Shakespeare streaming videos produced by the BBCbetween 1978 and 1985. 

Atkins Library is offering a $250 prize to the winner of the Tourneés Film Festival Essay Contest!   The films in his year’s festival explore experiences of foreigners and strangers in new and sometimes hostile environments. Please attend one or several films (see schedule here) and write a brief review of one film – 750 to 1,000 words, double spaced – to explain its relevance to these topics.

In the past two years, collections at the J. Murrey Atkins Library have grown faster than at any comparable period in its history.  Most of these new collections are research journal backfiles that vastly expand the Library’s holdings, making them instantly available from any computer, to multiple users, with stronger preservation.  Best of all, these backfiles gave UNC Charlotte faculty access to articles equivalent to that found in much larger and older universities.  

Are books being weeded from the collection? No.  We are not weeding books from the collection, only selected journal back volumes. We are beginning a withdrawal project for research journals only that will provide growth for among other things, book space we desperately need for future additions to our collection.   What are you discarding?
