Atkins Library is expanding its Document Delivery Service to now include Masters Degree students.  To get a copy of a journal article owned by Atkins Library, just send the request to Interlibrary Loan. Other details are:

Atkins Library hosted librarians from around the region today for a workshop on NCKnows, North Carolina’s collaborative virtual reference service.  The training focused on Libraryh3lp, an Instant Messaging System used by libraries to provide reference and research services.  As the use of online communication becomes increasingly common, libraries are responding by opening new channels for their patrons to use to connect with them. 

In 2008 Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, and Sage Publications sued four named individuals at Georgia State University (GSU) (the President, the Provost, the Dean of the Libraries and the Associate Provost for Information Technology) alleging massive copyright infringement occurring in the university’s electronic reserves and within the online course management system. Cambridge University Press, et. al v. Patton, et.al.

Atkins Library Special Collections was awarded a $6,350 grant to plan a digital program called Living Charlotte: the Making of a New South City. Special Collections will use this money to determine partner cultural heritage institutions in hopes to present a broad range of local historic materials in digital format, highlighting the community’s unique experiences from the Reconstruction period to the present.
