Atkins library is happy to be able to provide access to over ten thousand streaming videos through our Films on Demand subscription, including titles from National Geographic, TED Talks, PBS, and the BBC, just to name a few.  As part of the subscription, new and exciting videos are added monthly. 

The Digital Scholarship Lab partners with faculty and graduate students in the use of digital and networked research tools to create, disseminate, and store new knowledge.  The library is pleased to offer the following workshops in February.  Click the links below to register or view our full calendar: http://dsl.uncc.edu/dsl/events  

Atkins Library has started a pilot project to identify, purchase and make available unlimited online access to course adopted titles or supplemental readings for the spring 2014 semester. Many publishers do not sell individual titles in this way, but Atkins found and purchased over 50 eBooks for this spring’s classes: http://library.uncc.edu/etextbooks. Please consult with your professor before using.

On July 12, 1984, nearly thirty years ago, Walter Mondale, the leading Democratic presidential candidate, announced that he had chosen Representative Geraldine Ferraro of New York as his running mate. Ferraro, a daughter of Italian immigrants, had previously gained notoriety as a vocal advocate of women's rights in Congress. Visit Special Collections and explore the many manuscript collections related to “Women and Politics.”  Here are just a few.

Beginning Tuesday, January 21 at 7 p.m., Atkins Library will be offering Introduction to EndNote classes in Room 124.  EndNote, a citation management software program, is available to UNC Charlotte students, faculty and staff.  The evening classes do not require registration and are open to all.   Participants will learn how to download and install EndNote, create a library of references, and add and export references to an EndNote library.
