Atkins Library joins UNC Charlotte in supporting the 17th Annual School Tools Campaign. School Tools is a drive to collect and distribute school supplies to CMS students who need them. All supplies collected will be distributed via Classroom Central, a free store for teachers and Communities in Schools coordinators.
The University’s drive will run fromThursday, August 1 through Friday, August 16.
Atkins Library will focus on the collection of the following items: PENS, PENCILS, AND ERASERS; however, all school supplies are appreciated and welcomed. The collection bin will be at the Information Desk.
According to Tanisha Poole, Business Operations Coordinator for Classroom Central, “Fifty-four percent of CMS students live in poverty. The School Tools Campaign provides students and teachers the necessary tools to succeed in and outside the classroom. Items that we may take for granted like pens and paper, are very limited at several schools.” This year’s campaign goal of collecting one million items would address this need.
This is just another way for us as employees of UNC Charlotte to keep Giving Green!
School Tools is sponsored by Classroom Central, Communities in Schools and WSOC-TV. For more information about the School Tools Campaign or if you want to know how to make a monetary donation, email Jordan Harris, Community Affairs Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
