UNCC Yearbooks Online

Digital Collections at Atkins Library is pleased to announce that student yearbooks from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte are now available on DigitalNC. The online volumes include UNC Charlotte yearbooks from 1966-1985, as well as yearbooks from Charlotte College from 1950-1965 and Carver Junior College yearbooks from 1950-1966.

Harry L. Dalton Papers

The Special Collections Reading and Manuscripts Room was named after Harry Lee Dalton who was born June 13, 1895 in Winston, North Carolina. This collection is full of primary resources relating to WWI, WWII as well as information on commerce and industry. Check out Harry L. Dalton papers here

Now Available: Former Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory's Papers

Over 40 linear feet of former Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory’s official documents, photos and personal papers are now available to the public.

New Digital Collection: Historical Charlotte Redevelopment

This digital collection documents the plans for the urban redevelopment of Charlotte in the 1960s and 1970s.  Created in 1957, the Charlotte Redevelopment Commission was charged with projects which cleared rundown areas of Charlotte but also projects for rehabilitation of declining older neighborhoods.  The areas where these projects took place were Belmont, Brooklyn, Cherry, Dilworth, Downtown, First Ward, Greenville, North Charlotte, Third Ward, and Wilmore. By far the largest of these areas were the Brooklyn and Greenville areas. The first demolition took place in 1961.

This digital resource makes rare and unique research materials freely accessible to students, researchers, teachers, and lifelong learners around the world.

New Photographic Collection Donated To Special Collections

J. Murrey Atkins Library Special Collections is pleased to announce the recent donation of The Steve Perille Photographic Collection by Byron Baldwin, a fellow photographer and friend of Perille.

Perille worked as a photographer for the Charlotte Observer from 1972 until 1983. He was named 1975 Southern Photographer of the  Year.
