University Archives

University Archives is the collective memory of UNC Charlotte. Our goal is to ensure the preservation of documents, photos, and other materials that document the university's origins and activities as well as the achievements of its faculty, students, staff, and alumni. To do that, we collect, preserve, and make available official university records that are permanently and historically valuable. We also collect the stories and records of our students and alumni so that their experiences are represented in the archives.

The University Archives includes official University records, publications, photographs, oral histories, and audiovisual materials in all formats. We also collect the records of faculty committees, student government, and student organizations. Materials date from 1946 to the present and include historical records from our predecessor institutions: the Charlotte Center of the University of North Carolina and Charlotte College.

The personal papers of individuals who were instrumental in the University’s early growth are also part of University Archives. These collections include the papers of Bonnie E. Cone, Elmer Garinger, W. A. (Woody) Kennedy, Oliver Rowe, Hoyt Galvin, Addison Reese, and Robert Reike.

Catalogs, Yearbooks, and Student Newspapers

Several University publications have been digitized and made available online by the DigitalNC Project. These publications include Charlotte College and UNC Charlotte catalogs, student newspapers, and yearbooks.
