Renew and Return

Renewals

You can renew items from the general collection up to two times. If another borrower requests an item that you have checked out, or if you have a fine over $10 on your library account, you may not be able to renew the item.

UNC Charlotte students, faculty, and staff may renew items by:

  • Logging into My Account

  • Calling the Circulation Desk at 704-687-0491

  • Bringing the item to the Circulation Desk

Friends of Atkins Library, Alumni, and all other patrons may renew items by:

  • Calling the Circulation Desk at 704-687-0491

  • Bringing the item to the Circulation Desk

If you still require an item beyond the loan period of two renewals, please bring the item to the Circulation Desk and a staff member will assist you.

Returns

Bring your items (Atkins and Architecture Library) to Atkins Library at the first floor Circulation Desk, outside book drops, or inside book drops located at the Circulation Desk and the north entrance. Several other book drops are located across campus. You can also return items to the Architecture library located in the Storrs Building.

Book drop returns

Library books drops are generally checked Monday through Friday. If you have time-sensitive material such as an item that has been requested by another patron, please return it to the Circulation Desk in order to avoid accruing late fines.

Please return Interlibrary Loan items, Course Reserves, and all library technology to the Circulation Desk at Atkins. If you have items that you checked out from the Technology Support Desk, you can return them there, or if the Technology Support Desk is closed, return them to the Circulation Desk.

Request a search for a returned item

If you think you’ve returned a library item and it is still showing up on your library account, you can submit a form to request a search for a returned item. A library staff member will promptly search the library and reach out to you with an update. While the search is in process, fines are prevented from accruing onto your library account.

If the item is located, it will be returned and removed from your library account. Any fines that were added to your account from that item will be waived. If the item is not located, the search for the item will continue for up to one week.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact librarystacks@uncc.edu.
