Renewals

How To Renew

Sometimes, you need it for just a bit more time. Thankfully, you have lots of ways to renew!

For UNC Charlotte students, faculty, staff, Friends of Atkins Library, and Alumni, you can:

  • Log into My Account
  • Call the Information and Research Desk at 704-687-0491
  • Bring the item to the Information and Research Desk
  • Email Circulation Services at circdesk@uncc.edu

For all other patrons, you can:

  • Call the Information and Research Desk at 704-687-0491
  • Bring the item to the Information and Research Desk

When can I renew?

You can renew items from the general collection up to two times. You may not be able to renew if someone else requests the item while you have it or if you have a fine on your account of $10 or more (How do I pay?). If you need to renew an item more than twice, please bring it to the Information and Research Desk on the first floor of Atkins Library so we can help you.

Returns

Where Can I Return My Items?

For your convenience, there are lots of places where you can return your library items. Some library items must be returned to certain locations.

Return most library items to:

In special cases, return items to the specified location:

  • Equipment from the Technology Support Desk should return back to that desk.
  • Interlibrary Loan items, Course Reserves, and other library technology should return to the Information and Research Desk.
  • Time-sensitive materials should return directly to the Information and Research Desk to avoid delays or potential fines.

Courtesy Reminders

When you check out an item, we’ll send you an email that tells you when to return it. We’ll send that to your UNC Charlotte address (or another email address on file for non-university borrowers). While you have the item, we’ll also send you periodic reminders that include its due date.

Feel free to return the item as early as you like before the due date! If you return an item after the due date, you may receive a fine on your account. For more info, see Fines and Lost Items.
