Interested in campus and local history?

Special Collections and University Archives offers a rich selection of primary documents ideal for research on the history of the University and the Charlotte region. Our holdings are strong in areas including African American Civil Rights, the LGBTQ movement in Charlotte, local government, city planning, and motorsports -- but if you are interested in almost any aspect of campus and local history, there is something for you! We welcome students, faculty, staff, and visitors from the community.

Our rare publications and government documents can be found through the Atkins library search system. Guides to our manuscript and archival holdings are at findingaids.uncc.edu, where you can keyword search and filter to find the items you are looking for. For assistance using these tools, contact us and let us know your research topic and intended date and time of visit. You may also drop in to see us on the 10th floor of the library. During the academic year, we are generally open from 10am to 5pm Monday-Friday - but hours vary, so please check the calendar of hours before your visit. We look forward to seeing you and assisting you with your research!
